Mathematics notes for Class 11 and 12

JEE mathematics from the foundations up. Graphs, ranges and the algebra that turns long problems into short ones.

    Sets

A set is a well-defined collection, and that phrase is doing real work: membership must be decidable, so the collection of tall people is not a set. Everything else in the chapter is notation for combining sets, plus one counting formula, n(A∪B) = n(A) + n(B) − n(A∩B), that removes the double count.

    Quadratic Equations

The discriminant tells you what the roots look like before you find them: positive and it has two distinct real roots, zero and they coincide, negative and they are a complex conjugate pair. Vieta's relations then give their sum and product without solving, and the parabola answers every question about sign and range at a glance.

    Basic Maths for JEE

Most JEE questions that look unfamiliar are ordinary once the algebra underneath is solid. Intervals and the wavy curve method solve any polynomial inequality by sign, modulus is a distance so it splits into cases, logarithms turn products into sums, and AM-GM settles a whole class of minimum and maximum questions in one line.
