Exam facts: the end of the T-wave marks the end of ventricular systole, and counting QRS complexes over time gives the heart rate. Atrial repolarisation has no wave (masked by QRS). The counter-intuitive trap: during joint diastole, blood flows FREELY from atria to ventricles — the AV valves are OPEN, not closed. Students assume a "resting" phase means all valves shut. In fact, atrial systole only tops off the final ~30% of ventricular filling. And the heart sounds: 'Lubb' = AV valves close (start of ventricular systole); 'Dupp' = semilunar valves close. Both sounds come from closure, never opening.
